Boots, a belt, and a giant scarf = Fall.

Cardigan, shirt and tank: maurices
Scarf: Kohl's
Jeans: Silvers
Boots: Dingos
Belt: American Eagle

Get used to seeing this type of picture. The lighting in my living room is dreadful. The lighting in the fitting room mirrors isn't much better, but it will do.

I had plans for an amazing outfit but once I put it all on, it was the exact opposite. So, this is what I threw together in two minutes flat. A purple hued cardigan from last year with some spring apparel from last season and my favorite and most expensive boots. Hi Dingos!! Welcome back. Totally fall. Totally perfect.

What is your favorite piece of apparel?

Happy deciding,
V

I love stripes ... and I'm a copy cat.

Sweater, Boots, Jewelry and Belt: maurices
Button down: Charlotte Russe

I can't say I got this idea on my own, while I do totally love this look. I saw this courtesy of Lilly's Style http://simplyme091909.blogspot.com/. Check out her blog! It's amazing. Anyway, I promise, I am not wearing spandex. They're just basic black leggings that happen to appear super shiny behind the camera lens. All of these pieces have been in my closet for at least a year (except my boots, which you've seen a million times and the adorable belt).

Let me know your thoughts.

Do you dig the black and brown? Honest opinions please!

XOXO

I promised a blah outfit ...

... and here it is. Monday is my office day. I love this day more than any other day in the whole entire week mostly because I can crawl out of bed and get dressed. I tried today ... a little harder than most Mondays. But as I look back at the photos I realize that I looked like a hot mess. But, I promised to post the photos so enjoy!

Faux fur, anyone?

Scarf, Denim skinnies, vest and tank top: maurices
Boots: Fergilicious at Famous Footwear
Tee: Kohls.

Gorgeous day today. Perfect day for a faux fur vest, I would say. So, that's exactly what I wore. I paired it with a basic long sleeve brown teal, taupe boots and some skinny jeans that fitted perfectly in the boot. And I must say, I loved every bit of it! The scarf was just for some color around my face. Lots of layers. Love this outfit! Let me know your thoughts!

Isn't this skirt adorable?

All clothing and jewelry: maurices
Shoes: Fergie @Famous Footwear

I absolutely hate the color purple. I can literally vow to you that there is no existing purple apparel in my wardrobe. But, I saw this skirt and thought, "oh yes!" Upon deciding I fell in love, I had to quickly decide what it would pair perfectly with. A cardigan of course? Black please!! What, I don't own a black cardigan? Check! Now I do!! Hello black cardigan. These are your roommates... a pink, teal, tan, two animal print, brown, and mauve cardigan friends. Hope you like your new home. I am going to wear you until I realize you're no longer black. No really, I am!

Hope your black friday was perfectly successful.

XOXO Virg

When in doubt, belt it out.

Sweater: H&M
Shirt: maurices
Jeans: Citizens of Humanity
Bag: maurices
Shoes: maurices

Not everyone can belt a sweater. Honestly, I probably could have done without all the extra fluff today too. But, I fell in love with this adorable number at H&M the other day and I had to have it. It didn't look great without a belt and I had the perfect belt for the outfit so I managed to create a look that is SO me and so comfy. If you've never "belted" an outfit before, start with a chunky belt and start lower around your waist than higher. Experiment. Belts don't work for everyone but when you figure it out I guarantee you'll want become a collector (ie: hoarder).

Happy Belt shopping.
Love,
Virg

PS: Sorry about the photos, and the trashcan opt-in. At 10 pm at night, it's nearly an impossibility to find a good place to take a pic.

Thanks What Not To Wear.

Today was a busy day and I wore a blah outfit. While my good friend Coreen reminded me that I promised I'd post pictures regardless, I honestly had little effort to even attempt to pose for a photograph. Instead I'd like to share something very informative I learned today on What Not To Wear. I've seen this episode quite a few times but today it seemed very relevant.

When deciding what to buy, consider the following. B.A.S.E.

B- Body. What apparel specifically fits your body type? How does your body look in it?
A- Appropriate. Is it age appropriate? If you can't answer this question, it is not.
S- Situation Appropriate. Where can you wear it? Work? School? Out with the girls?
E- Expense. The final equation is "cost per wear"? Is it worth the expense?

I love learning from Stacey and Clinton. I hope to share things that will rock your wardrobe too!

On a side note, I snatched up this adorable whipstitch handle tote bag at maurices today. I will photograph it later this week.

XOXO,
V

Sunday suit jackets and jeans.

Blazer & Shirt: maurices
Scarf: Apt 9 @ Kohls
Jeans: Silvers @ maurices
Boots: Lauren Conrad @ Kohls

Few tips: #1 - Take a pair of capri's you love from last season and wear them all fall tucked into your favorite boots. You'll get more cost per wear out of some of your favorite pieces.
#2 - Suit jackets are perfect with denim. I couldn't tell you the last time I actually wore a suit jackets with it's matching bottoms. #3 - Find boots that you can wear with a dress, skirt, or jeans. It will allow you multiple options for footwear throughout the season.
Happy shopping! Love, Virginia

Well, here it is. My very first blog. I promise that every blog from here until forever will be better than this one but I decided that I had to get this done... and here it is. I posted today, after I added the amazing leg warmers to my outfit, and asked Vincent to take the pictures for me in our backyard. I've decided that I need to express my outfit options. My closet is filled with amazing apparel and it's time to share my ideas. I think you'll love some, and hate some. But it is important to me that you share how you feel regardless. I love clothes! They invigorate my life and not because it's all I have but because it's something spectacular that seriously starts my day in a creative and expressive sort of way.
Now let's talk about this outfit in particular. I am not the kind of girl that is afraid to mix blacks and browns, patterns with other patterns, or that washes and blow dries my hair every day. I don't buy into that particular way of life. I've been searching for a comfy stripe shirt and this one caught my eye. I'm in love with my boots! I wear them four times a week. These jeans are so old and so lived in but so stretchy and comfy. I like every aspect of this outfit and I can't wait to wear it again. It's me. Unique. Strange. Comfortable. Thanks for reading!
