Dead grass and windy weather

Cardigan: Old Navy
Shirt: Ralph Lauren
Belt: Aero
Jeans: Seven for all Mankind
Shoes: Kohl's
Jewelry: Charlotte Russe

Rushing out the door today involved little thought on my part in putting together an outfit. But when it was all said and done, and photographed, I liked it. The colors are so great. Everything is either two years old (except the boots) so I won't be linking the items back to for you to buy, but I hope you'll experiment on your own with colors and styles.

In the meantime, I hope you enjoy the dead grass and weeds on my front lawn. Heck, I'm grateful there is absolutely no snow to be photographed.

Same shirt. Different time of day.

All apparel is maurices; some available at maurices.com

These outfits were filmed in reverse order than the title of my blog. You'll notice my hair is adorable and full in the night outfits and it is the exact opposite in my day attire photos. This is because I woke up after a fantastic night out, found the shirt I had worn the night before draped over my guest bedroom bed and decided, "This can be cute again!" And luckily it was. My flat hair and tired eyes were not but C'est la vie (uh, no I'm not French).

My summer dress.

Denim Jacket: Gap
Dress: maurices
Belt: Gap
Boots: Lauren Conrad for Kohl's
Leggings: Old Navy

I am heading to Cancun this April (yahoo!) and I pictured this dress on the sandy shores of Mexico. Imagine an adorable straw hat, an adorable brightly colored flip flop or a trendy wedge. Yes, this dress will be packed.

In the meantime, I absolutely needed to wear it right now. So, out comes old faithful ... my denim jacket and this season's brown boots. Now I've created a wearable end of February look.
When did I become so clever you ask? Oh yesterday. A genie came to me and one of my wishes was for more fashion knowledge. I am saving the other two wishes for Cancun <3

My trendy curtain.

Skirt: maurices (buy here)
Top: maurices (similar here and here)
Belt: maurices (buy here or another great option here)
Shoes: maurices (buy here)
Jewelry: Lia Sophia

This is absolutely one of those outfits that looks much better in person. Regardless, you deserve to know about a trend that is taking over the world ... The Maxi Skirt.

So let's talk about it. I am 5'4. I never in a million and a half years thought I could pull off a maxi skirt. But truth be told, a million years and a half years have passed and I've been proven wrong. SELF, get a hint. You're not always right!! In this case, I'm glad. I am glad to have found this gorgeous (and uber comfy) skirt. I am glad to have worn it today and felt like I was wearing my curtains to work. I am glad that I had the perfect shoes to go with it. I'm just glad. Period.

Are you feeling glad?

The wonderful world of blazers.

Top & Blazer: H&M (top similar here) (Blazer similar here)
Denim: Silver Brand Co. (buy here)
Shoes: Rock & Republic for Kohl's (buy here)

I'm a little sailor girl. A little sailor girl that loves her skinny jeans and can't decide exactly which way the blue and white stripes are suppose to go. I think they're just fine the way they are.

Once again, something the wonderful world of blogging has opened my eyes up to understand. Sometimes fashion doesn't need to make sense. It is about taking chances and trying new things.

Like red flats!! Aren't they adorable. I am very, very excited about Rock & Republic's new line at Kohl's. You should get there and check it out. The denim is very high quality and it's all on sale this week. Go ... now!! Run!!

Not so shiny?

Denim Jacket: Gap (similar here and here)
Dress: H&M (old)
Tank: maurices (similar here)
Belt: Charlotte Russe
Leggings: Old Navy
Shoes: maurices (similar here)
Necklace: Francesca's Collection
Bracelet: Lia Sophia

I encourage you to spend a few extra minutes getting dressed every morning. When you crawl out of bed, pull out your curling pole (which is what we call a curling iron in my home) and attempt to pull on your panties, skinny jeans and brush your teeth all at once ... nothing good can come out of your outfit.

Instead, as pinterest taught me, at the beginning of each season turn every hanger in your closet around. As you wear the items turn the hangers the other way. When the season is over you will know what you need and what you do not. It will help your closet become a little bit more cohesive AND it will allow you to wear matching socks, matching jewelry and perhaps even matching panties.

I said panties twice in one post. Are their blogging ethics against that term?

Oh, BTW, my leggings wanted to shine in this photo. But they really are not that spectacular. Silly, shiny leggings.

Toodles.

Meet my buddies.

Top: maurices (old)
Jeans: Silver Brand (here or similar here)
Shoes: Rocket Dog (great spring option here or similar here)

Hi. I'm Virginia. My buddies are the hairs sticking out near my ears. They are a product of my course hair. Apparently my husband thought they were part of my outfit and he didn't inform me that I looked like a silly fool. But, whatever. My buddies are cool like that. Meet Moe-Moe and Maddy.

Hoard much?

Aren't these adorable??

All clothing @maurices.com

Skirt: Buy here

Jewelry: Lia Sophia

Is there a such thing as a healthy obsession? Because truth be told, I'm addicted to cardigans. Short, long, v-neck, cropped. I love them. I have 12. I actually just purchased this one in four colors. Does that make me a cardigan hoarder? Or just a plain hoarder? If you practice diagnosis, feel free to contact me via email. This is the first step in healing, correct? Admitting to the problem?

Hi. I am Virginia. And I hoard ... cardigans. The end.

Duck face.

Top: H&M (similar here)
Blazer, Jewelry & Shoes: maurices (shoes here) (blazer here)
Belt: Gap (similar here)
Jeggings: Pac Sun (here)

Before I grabbed the camera today my husband informed me that "everyone" is doing a duck face in photos. First of all, who is everyone? Second of all, what is the "duck face"? If you don't know. Google it. It is worth it. My take on the duck face is featured. I hope it makes you laugh.

This look on the other hand is one of my favorites in a long time. I can't even imagine wearing red pants with tan stripes and nude colored shoes months ago. Actually, I know I would not have even tried it. I am glad I did.

Do you likey?
